We're working towards affordable housing

FOR ALL!

About us

Fresh Start Homeless Initiative is an organization that provides transitional housing and life skills training for the homeless—additionally we provide the community with luxury affordable housing. We aid the homeless, as they move from homelessness— often living on the streets—into independent, self-sufficient lifestyles and assist the working citizens of the Triad with luxury affordable housing.

This is a much-needed foundation that will help homeless individuals transition from the streets into their own long-term permanent housing. We will help with the process from start to finish. On staff we have a substance abuse counselor, financial planner, a mental health counselor, job recruiter, and a life coach to assist clients.

The facility will include 10-15 apartment units with plans to expand to 50-100 and it will provide clients with a four-step program that teaches them necessary life skills in addition to placing them in an environment with neighbors that are working and contributing to society. This collaborative approach to empowerment is the keystone to developing self-sufficiency in the clients.

OUR MISSION

Create safe, affordable luxury housing for residents of Triad earning 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) or less to prevent and eradicate homelessness.

OUR VISION

Affordable housing is one of the most important issues facing our community. Fresh Start envisions a housing system that provides housing options for all residents regardless of income, age, or life stage.

OUR GOAL

Fresh Start has produced a nine-year plan related to affordable housing and supportive services. Our goal is to increase Guilford County’s housing stock of affordable housing by 6%  by 2025 utilizing affordable housing programs. The organization’s long-term goal is for the ratio of supported, affordable housing to overall housing units increases to 10% by 2030.

OUR TEAM

Corinth Meredith-Camp received her B.A. in Political Science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. While at N.C. A&T Corinth was active in several clubs and societies. Corinth brings her years of experience in leadership roles and expertise in management, fundraising, marketing, money management, law, and human relations to her role as Board Chair and CEO of Fresh Start Homeless Initiative. In particular, her experience running a small business for 5 years and supervising employees in an at-risk teenage group home for girls sparked her interest in helping the community. While this was rewarding, she knew she could have a greater impact by serving those experiencing homelessness—she longed to create opportunities for individuals to create a Fresh Start! When not working or volunteering, Corinth enjoys spending time with her husband and family watching Marvel Movies.
